For their last court, Baronesses Tysha and Mairghread of Carillion asked me to make them a couple of formal baronial thank you notes for a couple members of the populace who had been especially helpful to them during their reign. One of these was Mairghread Knox, presented on a 5"x7" piece of pergamenata.

This was one of 5 scrolls of mine that changed hands at Southern Region War Camp A.S 60. This one sadly did not go out in court due to the absence of its recipient, but I know it will find its way to her eventually.

This set of scrolls really taught me the difficulties of photographing gold gouache on pergamenata. Scanning perg at Staples yields overly yellow photos, and does not portray the shine. My scanner is not big enough for an 11x14" scroll. A phone picture seems to yield the best results of the tools available to me at time of writing, but I still have to choose between getting the shine of the gold and dulling the rest of the photo, or making the gold seem dull. Decisions, decisions. Thankfully, the recipients don't have to worry about that with the originals.

Words

It is said that it takes a village to raise a child. There is no-one that demonstrates this ideal more than Mairghread Knox. Steadfastly she has loved and protected the children of Carillion, especially Baroness Mairghread’s child. Knowing her child was safe with Mairghread at events permitted the Baronesses to attend Their Barony. Forever will Baroness Mairghread be grateful for the dedication of Mairghread Knox. For this we giver her thanks and appreciation.
