The Silver Martlet is the Barony of Iron Bog's high service award.

For the illumination, I combined elements of the user’s heraldry with the background of the Silver Martlet, and added some embellishments such as the vine and the “O” cadel with gold. This was the first time I asked for someone else to do the words - as it is a high service award for the Barony, I wanted them to be done by someone who knows the recipient personally.

With the busy Southern Region scribal schedule of September, I only had a couple days to complete this scroll - I completed all the calligraphy, outlines, and the cadel on Wednesday, illumination Thursday, and delivered it to my ever-reliable courier Eva on Friday.

Words

Our courts run on the service of the Scribes and Wordsmiths that create magnificent works of art and the Baronial Signets that make sure each is assigned and delivered.  Today, we honor a great woman who has served Iron Bog as both signet and artist.  As signet, she survived herding cats to get assignments delivered on time.  As a scribe, she created scroll work as beautiful as she is.  It is our honor and privilege to recognize this remarkable and valued member of our Barony for her scribal service.  Therefore, at this River Wars AS 60, we Baron Andre and Baroness Genevra do hereby induct Mairi Crawford into the Order of the Silver Martlet.
