On the Wednesday before the event, I was told that Buckland Cross didn't have a rapier scroll. Thursday morning, I sent this picture to the Baroness. From assignment to completion, I had it done in about 8 hours, writing the words in my head as I finished my day job.
With a large wide nib, I modeled a cadel after one from a book on my shelf, used the same rapier outline that I had ready from the recent Iron Bog championship scroll, and added a touch of gold gouache. Cadels are beautiful and one of my favorite fancy letter stylings, but the less elaborate ones can be deceptively quick. This was a successful experiment in cadels for emergency scrolls!
The Baron and Baroness called me into court for my effort on this scroll, and gave me a token of their reign, along with a little pair of earrings.

Words
Deliver the news, O heralds, that a Champion has been chosen! As the air started to chill and the leaves began to whisper of autumn, a tournament was held upon Our lands. Fierce competition and a field of immense talent awaited to test the mettle of our challengers. And lo, with a flurry of strikes, fleet footwork, poise and grace, one did rise to meet the occasion!
And so it is that We, Baron Muireadhach O Cuileannain and Baroness Yasamin al-Sardaniyya, with Our populace as witness, proudly see fit to name
as the Rapier Champion of Buckland Cross. Done this day, September 13, A.S. 60, at Buckland's Bounty.
